Every February 11th, organizations across the U.S. celebrate 2-1-1 day. 2-1-1 day provides an opportunity to raise awareness of 2-1-1 and celebrate the staff that make this program possible. For those not familiar, 2-1-1 is an Information & Referral program that provides easy access and knowledge to community resources. By simply dialing 2-1-1, people can learn about resources such as where to find food assistance, utility help, rent or mortgage assistance, how to volunteer, and so much more.

A trained community resource specialist will provide inquiries with information such as program availability, eligibility, and application process. Each 2-1-1 operates a database of vetted and maintained resources to ensure that information is accurate and up to date. Ashtabula County Community Action Agency (ACCAA) has provided the 2-1-1 service in Ashtabula County, Ohio for 20 years. Last year, ACCAA handled nearly 11,000 inquiries for assistance through telephone calls, texts, and emails.

Like many others, ACCAA celebrated 2-1-1 this past February 11th, 2023, by recognizing our committed staff that make sure our community knows where to turn in times of need. 2-1-1 is available 24/7 by phone or visiting 211.org to find more information on your local 2-1-1 provider.
